Okay, so, sparkling water. Let’s just say I have opinions. Picture this: you’re at a trendy brunch spot, ready to relax, and they bring you… Pellegrino. (Okay, deep breaths.) Look, it’s fine. Lots of people love it. But I’m a bit particular about my bubbly. I prefer brands without added fluoride, so whenever it’s brought to my table I politely ask if they have other options. (I promise, I’m not always this high-maintenance!)
Anyway, my quest for the perfect sparkling water had a happy ending, because Kicky’s on Georges Street in Dublin, totally get it. Not only do they have vegetarian and vegan options (major points!), but they also serve the glorious Irish W.B. Yeats and Oscar Wilde sparkling water. That’s my kind of bubbly. And it was the perfect complement to the amazing food.
Now, let’s talk about Kicky’s itself. This place is a vibe. Funky music, prime people-watching on Georges Street (Dublin’s theatre district, so you know the people-watching is good), and staff are so lovely you’ll want to adopt them. But the real star of the show? The food. Kicky’s specialises in Mediterranean-inspired dishes, cooked over fire for that smoky, irresistible flavour. Think hand-rolled pastas, bursting with fresh ingredients, and flavours that transport you straight to the Mediterranean coast. And don’t even get me started on their signature cocktails! They’re creative, delicious, and the perfect addition to the meal.

It might be a touch on the pricey side, but it’s worth it. Why? Because the food is delicious and locally sourced. They even have a menu listing all the local heroes they work with! Love culinary transparency. It’s clear they put a lot of love and care into every dish, from the perfectly charred vegetables to the expertly crafted pasta (and the John Dory, of course!).
I’m a big believer in supporting businesses that do things right. Ethical, organic, vegan, local – it’s not easy to tick all those boxes, especially on a bustling city centre street like Georges Street. Running a restaurant is tough, and providing quality ingredients, paying staff a fair wage, and crafting a unique dining experience is even tougher. So, when I find a place like Kicky’s, I shout about it from the rooftops (or, you know, write a blog post).
Seriously, go check it out. Treat yourself to some delicious Mediterranean-inspired food cooked over fire, try their hand-rolled pasta, savour the John Dory if it’s on the menu, sip on a signature cocktail, soak up the atmosphere, and maybe even discover your new favourite sparkling water.
